The Quick Fund Switch opens a list of funds in a separate window. This feature allows you to move from one fund to another without cascading through the menu hierarchy.
To illustrate, compare the 'traditional' navigation example below with the 'Quick Switch' navigation example.
To view the Asset Allocation table for a fund you need to (1) select a list, (2) select a letter of the alphabet, (3) click on the fund (which takes you to the fund's summary fact sheet), and (4) click on Asset Allocation in the side menu. To look at the Asset Allocation of another fund, these steps have to be repeated.
With the Quick Switch, if you are looking at Asset Allocation for one fund, choosing another fund in the Quick Switch window takes you straight to the Asset Allocation page of the new fund.
Note: The Quick Fund Switch window is also used for selecting and adding funds to Watch Lists and user-defined portfolios.
1. You do not need to click on Quick Fund Switch in the main page each time you want to use it. Once it is open, simply position it within your desktop so that you can bring it to the foreground.
2. If you open two occurrences of FundsData Online (ie, two separate browser windows both running FundsData), it is possible to invoke two occurrences of the Quick Fund Switch. This can be confusing because each occurrence of the Quick Switch will only work with one of the main windows.
3. FundsData Online will close the Quick Switch window if you move to an area of the system where quick switches are not available.
4. The Quick Switch window can end up hidden behind your main window. Depending on your browser, clicking the Quick Fund Switch link in the main FundsData Online window may not reveal it. To get it to the foreground use [Alt]-[Tab]. (ie, hold down the [Alt] key on your keyboard and simultaneously tap the [Tab] key).
