| Focus and Objective |
NewSA is a portfolio within the NewFunds Collective Investment Scheme, created by Absa and Vunani, and is listed on the Exchange Traded Funds sector of the JSE Main Board. The NewSA tracks the performance of the NewSA index, a modified Top40 index, with the constituent weightings adjusted to reflect their respective empowerment status, as determined using the Department of trade and Industry Codes of Good Paractice on Broad-based Black Economic Empowerment, which take into account the seven pillars of transformation. The empowerment scores of the NewSA Index are provided by Empowerdex, an independent empowerment rating agency and the Index is independently calculated by the FTSE and the JSE.
Seven Pillars of Transformation
· Ownership
· Management
· Employment equity
· Skills development
· Preferential procument
· Enterprise development
· Socio-economic development
NewSA is the first investment product to give investors the opportunity to reward and recognize transformation without sacrificing market performance. It was established with the intention to allow Investors to obtain market exposure to Constituent Companies in the NewSA index in an easily tradable form and to replicate as far as possible the price and yield performance of the NewSA index.
NewSA participatory interests are listed on the JSE and can be purchased through a JSE member stockbroker.
